US Navy Chooses Lockheed Martin and IFS to Deliver Intelligent Ship and Aircraft Maintenance

FREMONT, CA: The US Navy has asked global security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin and business applications company IFS to provide an intelligent maintenance solution that will aid in the digital transformation of various legacy systems into a single, completely modernized and sensitive logistics information system. The solution would ensure that employees spend more time on mission-critical tasks and less time on aircraft and ship repairs.

The IFS solution includes capabilities for preparing and carrying out maintenance, repair, and overhaul on over 3,000 properties, including aircraft, vehicles, and land-based equipment. The Naval Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (N-MRO) solution combines digital twin capabilities, artificial intelligence (AI), and predictive analytics to anticipate and react to probable equipment failures before they happen, which will add to the enhanced support of maintenance, supply logistics, real-time fleet management as well as other business functions for over 200,000 sailors.

Following a thorough and competitive assessment process, the US Navy chose Lockheed Martin along with IFS's renowned industry-specific functionality, which is now in use by some of the world's largest aerospace and defense (A&D) organizations. The solution will initially be fielded at multiple US Navy locations, with the assistance of software developer Beast Code, to assist sailors and Marine Corps maintainers in breaking down operational silos and working toward a shared maintenance workflow across all ship and aircraft platforms.
