KingTech Turbines Luxembourg eliminates that friction as a single source for premium turbine engines, aviation components and continued technical support. It serves as the European distribution arm of Taiwan-based KingTech Turbines while manufacturing and assembling an in-house line of fuel systems at its Redange-sur-Attert facility in Luxembourg. The company caters to model-aviation builders across Europe, the UK and a growing list of other countries, with the demand for its fuel-system components expanding into the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) space as well.

Founder Jean-Marc Berg started the business as a one-man operation. In 2008, he brought two KingTech RC turbine engines to his first model-making trade show and set up a small booth. Those turbines made up the entire product range at the time. Some visitors even doubted the business would go anywhere. “That’ll never amount to anything,” a few said. Berg remained resolute and confident of KingTech’s turbine quality, which soon led to a growing customer base.

He steadily broadened the range to include fuel systems, tanks and his own plug-and-play aircraft kits. The selection continues to expand to include more components that customers need to complete a build. Support from the parent company in Taiwan, along with guidance from colleagues at KingTech USA, helped Berg broaden what the Luxembourg operation could offer. This growth has helped push KingTech toward what he calls a world-leading position in model turbines.

Today, the portfolio covers turbines, turboprops and a range of fuel-system components, including ultimate air trap tanks, high-flow tank pendulums, soft tanks and clunks. It also includes tank fittings, hoses, refuelling solutions and other aviation accessories. Every component is engineered to work in harmony.

With the wide range of components available, choosing the right combination can be challenging. KingTech’s team helps customers determine the right fuel system and tank for their engine based on the aircraft and how it will be flown, working through those decisions before anything leaves the workshop. This hands-on guidance turns the original turnkey-solutions promise into something practical, and it’s why many customers return for their next build. The plug-and-play aircraft kits also make it seamless for hobbyists with limited free time.

“Since customers these days have less time to build a model aeroplane from scratch, the kits we offer are 95 percent pre-assembled,” Berg says. “All it takes is a short weekend to finish it up and fly it.”

Support Beyond the Sale

The relationship with the company does not end once a customer has a working setup. KingTech places strong emphasis on customer support, technical guidance, replacement parts and repairs, all handled directly by the same team that the customer already knows. This continuity allows customers to return to a familiar point of contact when they need advice, replacement components or help resolving an issue.

“We serve our customers the way we would like to be served,” he says. “In other words, fast service and good advice. A product is only as good as the support that comes with it.”

Customer feedback also shapes KingTech’s product roadmap. The company has continuously expanded its lineup in response to what customers request, and it now offers one of the widest ranges of turbines on the market.

A Future in UAVs

While model aviation is the foundation, KingTech’s fuel systems have found a second market in UAVs. Rising defence spending and political tension across Europe have increased demand for components originally developed for model aircraft. Among them are ultimate air trap tanks, tank pendulums, soft tanks, hoses and refuelling solutions, opening a market the company did not anticipate. KingTech believes global economic conditions, alongside demand itself, will continue to shape which products the defence industry will require next.

Meeting that demand starts on the factory floor. KingTech manufactures and assembles most of the parts in-house, giving it direct control over quality and consistency. Orders have grown steadily over the past two years, prompting it to expand its workforce. The defence and unmanned aviation sectors are emerging as an important part of the company’s future, alongside its established model-aviation business.

Its progress has come from more than growing orders. Returning customers, employees who maintain high standards and dealers across Europe have all played a role. This is evident in the firm’s progress from a small trade-show booth to one of the industry’s largest exhibition presences today, a point of pride for the team, built over years of trust with customers and dealers.

As the markets broaden, KingTech Turbines Luxembourg is positioning itself to become a key player in the defence sector while keeping its footing in the model-aviation market where it began. The plan is to stick to the proven principle: stay close to customers, maintain product standards and respond quickly when they need help. It’s this consistency that is carrying the company into its next chapter.
