Airspace Link, a global leader in digital drone safety infrastructure services, revealed the final resolution of a 10-day flight operation demonstrating a real-world drone transportation program for transferring important medical products, the first of its type in Southeast Michigan.
Airspace Link was granted the Michigan Mobility Grant to establish a drone delivery network in southeast Michigan to distribute critically needed medical supplies securely and effectively. The AirHub Platform from Airspace Link was utilized to conduct the initial community evaluations, which included air and ground data analysis to establish optimal routes and use cases to find appropriate partners as first movers on the network.
Airspace Link collaborated with Beaumont Health, a major health care provider in southeast Michigan, who realized the opportunity that drones would give for enhancing patient health care by more effectively transferring medicinal supplies. MissionGO, a drone delivery service provider with experience carrying organs and other medical products, was chosen to carry out the real-world drone courier services.
With the help of a Michigan Mobility Funding Grant first, from Michigan Economic Development Corporation's Office of Future Mobility & Electrification, Airspace Link brought together drone operator MissionGO, Beaumont Health, and metropolitan Detroit community leaders to conduct Michigan's first real-world package delivery operations via UAS (Uncrewed Aircraft System or "drone").
The project was headed by Airspace Link, which provided the digital infrastructure and data services needed to enable the safe planning and implementation of scaled drone delivery and logistics services in Michigan using their patented AirHub®Platform.
The final report and analysis will assist businesses and communities throughout Michigan better understand the viability and impact of safely integrating drone operations into their existing workflows, allowing the environmental, economic, and societal benefits to be realized sooner.
